The Rascal Juno is a contemporary-looking boot scooter that disassembles for the car, and it is Rascal’s replacement for their popular Vie and Vippi models. It is budget-friendly without feeling cheap: the build quality is good, and front and rear suspension give it a smoother ride than most scooters at this price. We took one out for a run, and the short verdict is that it is a comfortable, sturdy and easy scooter to drive.

What is the Rascal Juno?
It is a boot scooter, which means it comes apart into pieces light enough to lift into a car boot and go back together without tools. At 4 mph it is a Class 2 scooter, built for pavements rather than the road, and it suits shorter local journeys: the shops, a day out, a trip that ends with the scooter going in the car.
Rascal have discontinued the Vie and the Vippi and put the Juno in their place, so it is the latest version of a well-liked range rather than something untested.
What is it like to drive?
On our test route it felt very stable and sturdy, and it remained comfortable over normal pavement surfaces. The hand controls sit well and are easy to use, and there is nothing fiddly about getting going. The front and rear suspension takes the sting out of bumps that would otherwise rattle and jolt you.
It is honest to say what it is not designed for. The Juno is happy on pavements, including bumpy ones, but it is not built to tackle rough ground or long cross-country trips. Within that remit, it is a solid and reliable choice.
Comfort, basket and colours
Two practical things stand out:
- The basket is much bigger than the one you get on most boot scooters, which makes a real difference on a shopping trip.
- The footplate is spacious and roomy rather than the cramped footplate you might find on rival models.
The Juno also comes in three modern colourways, blue, white and purple, which all give a contemporary stylish appearance.
Weight and getting it in the car
The Juno is not the lightest scooter out there. It does not use an aluminium frame or a lightweight lithium battery, so it weighs more than an ultra lightweight carbon travel scooter would. What makes it car-friendly is that it comes apart: split into its main sections, each piece is manageable for most people to lift.

Who is the Rascal Juno for?
It is a good fit for someone who mostly travels short pavement distances, or who needs a scooter that comes apart to fit in the car for shopping and days out. If that is you, it offers a comfortable, sturdy ride and more carrying space than most of its rivals, at a sensible price.
