Meet the team

The family behind A6 Mobility

We have been a family owned and run mobility shop in Stockport since 1992, serving Greater Manchester and Cheshire. We are not part of a nationwide chain, so the people who help you are the people who know the products inside out.

Why it matters who you buy from

Honest advice from people who actually use this kit

Choosing a scooter, stairlift or chair is a big decision, and the right one depends on your home, your health and how you live. Our team takes the time to understand that before recommending anything, and we will happily say when something is not right for you.

Almost 30 years on, the same family runs the shop, our qualified engineers service and repair what we sell, and our reputation locally is the only marketing that has ever really mattered to us.

  • Family owned and run since 1992
  • Independent, never a sales chain
  • In-house, manufacturer-trained engineers
  • Try before you buy in the showroom
  • Free local fitting and home demos on selected items

David, Founder & Mobility Specialist at A6 Mobility Shop

David

Founder & Mobility Specialist

David co-founded A6 Mobility Shop in 1992 from our original site on Church Road in Stockport, before we moved to our current shop along the main A6. David has over 35 years' experience and is our in-house expert on seating, stairlifts, scooters, walking aids and more. Whether he's helping you choose a new scooter, offering guidance on riser recliner chairs or assisting you with a rollator, you're sure to end up having a laugh and getting great advice.

Favourite scooterDrive Sport Rider

Mobility scooters don't have to be boring. I'll take a TGA Supersport or Drive Sport Rider any day. These motorbike-style scooters look fantastic and are tremendous fun to drive. They're not the cheapest when new, but we regularly source and refurbish used models which are superb value.

Susie, Founder & Accounts at A6 Mobility Shop

Susie

Founder & Accounts

Susie co-founded A6 Mobility Shop and ran the day-to-day operations for over 25 years. Nowadays Susie provides guidance from behind the scenes. With decades of experience in nursing and mobility equipment, she is a font of knowledge and support. When not at her desk, Susie most enjoys long walks with her working cocker spaniel and her grandchildren.

Favourite scootereFOLDi Compass

We were one of the first ever eFOLDi retailers and have always been fans of their innovative folding products. The Compass is their lightest model and is so easy to lift into a car boot, especially compared to mobility scooters of the past. I'd consider the optional SteadyTred wheels, which are chunkier and more capable over uneven pavements.

Michael, Marketing & Operations at A6 Mobility Shop

Michael

Marketing & Operations

Having grown up around scooters, Michael proudly knows the pros and cons of every mainstream model and, most helpfully, he knows which ones to avoid (obviously a thrilling dinner guest!). If you're feeling overwhelmed by the options available and want some guidance, Michael will whittle it down to 2 or 3 scooters that suit your requirements and budget. Michael is also your go-to for riser recliner chairs and rollators.

Favourite scooterSterling Scoozy S800

My favourite scooter changes by the week, there are so many good options in our showroom and stock is always being refreshed. The Scoozy S800 is a really well-engineered all-terrain model that looks and drives differently to anything else. With a powerful motor, huge 18-inch wheels and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack, the Scoozy can tackle pretty much anything.

Bethany, Manager at A6 Mobility Shop

Bethany

Manager

Following a career as a carer, Bethany joined the A6 Mobility Shop team in 2019. Bethany is approachable, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable about scooters, rollators, wheelchairs, riser recliner chairs and much more. Mention you're a City fan or that you love Oasis and she'll probably give you a discount...

Favourite scooterKomfi Rider Marlin

Versatile, superb-quality large boot scooter that ticks all the boxes. The Marlin fills the niche for a large boot scooter that doesn't weigh a tonne. Photos and a list of specifications don't do this scooter justice. It has to be seen in person to be appreciated. The Marlin is a belter.

Nigel, Engineer at A6 Mobility Shop

Nigel

Engineer

Nigel is our technical guru. He impresses us every day with his ability to make complicated repairs look easy. Vastly experienced and incredibly helpful, Nigel is definitely a favourite with our customers. In his spare time, Nigel can be found supporting Stockport County and looking after his dogs.

Favourite scooterTGA Breeze S4

In terms of build quality, nothing surpasses the TGA Breeze. These scooters are durable and reliable, which means less time in the workshop and more time on the road. When needed, maintenance and repairs are usually straightforward. We normally stock brand new and used versions, and I'd definitely recommend a test drive in our showroom.

Lee, Assistant Manager at A6 Mobility Shop

Lee

Assistant Manager

Lee knows a lot about a lot! Having previously worked as a carer, Lee is vastly experienced in so many areas of the mobility industry. She understands the importance of choosing the right product and is always keen to offer helpful advice. Outside of work, Lee loves spending time with her children and taking family trips to Wales.

Favourite scooterMonarch Genie

We've tried pretty much every folding scooter over the years and Monarch's most recent version of the Genie is my favourite. Where rival models can feel flimsy, the Genie feels sturdy despite its light weight. The angle-adjustable handlebars are often overlooked by other manufacturers and can make a big difference to the driver's comfort. Even better, it has relatively large suspension springs which definitely improve the ride quality.

Adam, Engineer at A6 Mobility Shop

Adam

Engineer

With plenty of hands-on experience, Adam can turn his hand seamlessly to mobility scooter repairs, stairlift installations and almost any other technical task. Customers regularly comment on his helpful attitude and friendliness. Adam enjoys spending weekends with his family and watching his beloved Manchester United.

Favourite scooterDrive Express Pro

Reliable, durable and easy to maintain, the Drive Express Pro is an engineer's dream. We get very few technical issues with it, especially if customers keep up with their annual servicing.

Gabe, Technical & Warehouse Assistant at A6 Mobility Shop

Gabe

Technical & Warehouse Assistant

Gabe makes sure everything runs smoothly in our warehouse and workshop, also assisting with mobility scooter refurbishment. Gabe plays a big role in setting up larger items for customers, including riser recliner chairs and road-legal scooters.
