As the Authorised eFOLDi Retailer for Stockport and South Manchester, A6 Mobility Shop are delighted to release the brand new updated eFOLDi Lite. Rather than a full redesign, this is a collection of small improvements that make this fantastic folding mobility scooter even better. With a reduction in weight and the introduction of new features, this updated version promises to be a cracker! Let’s take a look in more detail…

Is the new eFOLDi Lite scooter lighter?

Yes! The Lite has always been praised for its minimalist design that eliminates excess weight from the frame and body. Impressively eFOLDi has now shaved a further 1kg off the total weight of the mobility scooter. The outgoing version of the eFOLDi Lite weighed in at 15kg whilst the new model weighs just 14kg. This may not sound like a lot but it does represent a significant reduction of around 7%. This will make the updated eFOLDi Lite mobility scooter even more manageable, especially for those who struggle to lift their mobility scooter into the car boot or on and off public transport. The eFOLDi Lite is one of the world’s lightest mobility scooters.

Has anything changed cosmetically?

At a glance, the updated model is almost identical to the outgoing version. Very little has changed aesthetically about the new eFOLDi Lite. This update is a revision of the existing model rather than a full redesign. The frame, folding mechanism and floating seat suspension were already excellent and we’re glad eFOLDi decided not to change these areas.

What is different about the new eFOLDi Lite model?

Alongside the weight reduction, there are 5 main differences between the new eFOLDi Lite and the previous version:
  • Turning speed reduction: The eFOLDi Lite is a well-balanced and safe 3-wheel mobility scooter. eFOLDi has made this model even safer by adding an automated turning speed reduction feature. This will ensure the scooter is even safer when cornering by smoothly reducing the speed on corners.
  • Puncture-proof tyres: The front wheel of the eFOLDi Lite has always had a solid puncture-proof tyre. However, the rear wheels have previously been pneumatic meaning there was a chance of punctures. The latest version features all-round puncture-proof solid tyres as standard. Not only are they more practical, but they also reduce the overall weight and improve durability.
  • Tiller charging port: Until now, eFOLDi Lite drivers had to remove their battery pack from the footplate to charge their scooters. The latest version of the eFOLDi Lite features a charging port on the handlebars meaning the scooter can be charged easily without taking the battery out. Of course, there is still the option to charge directly into the battery pack if needed.
  • Sturdiness: The new eFOLDi Lite feels much sturdier than its predecessor, despite the weight reduction. Small changes to the fixings and latches on the updated model improve the overall rigidity and make the driver feel more secure.
  • Armrests: Armrests are a new optional upgrade on the new eFOLDi Lite and we strongly advise selecting this option. The armrests don’t add much to the weight of the scooter and fold away neatly. As well as being generously padded and strong, the armrests help the driver feel protected at the sides.

Are there any new accessories for the eFOLDi Lite?

eFOLDi already offers a very useful selection of accessories for their mobility scooters. Their bags and travel covers are popular choices. For the new eFOLDi Lite, we now have armrests which are a much-welcome addition. One small criticism we had of the previous version is that we felt exposed without armrests. Thankfully eFOLDi have recognised the opportunity to add armrests and introduced this excellent accessory. We also recommend the foot pedals, especially for taller drivers or those with larger feet. The pedals give more foot space which is a worthwhile upgrade for longer trips.

What is the weight capacity of an eFOLDi Lite? What is the eFOLDi Lite made from?

The eFOLDi Lite boasts a sturdy magnesium alloy frame. This lightweight material is strong and durable without being too heavy. The revolutionary design makes the new eFOLDi a lightweight mobility scooter that’s able to carry up to 120kg or 18.89 stone.

What are the best features of the eFOLDi Lite?

  • Portability: As the name suggests, this mobility scooter is very lightweight. There are very few scooters that fold as neatly and compactly as the eFOLDi. The lithium battery is also airline and cruise-ship compatible, meaning the eFOLDi Lite is a great choice for travel.
  • Suspension: eFOLDi introduced an innovative suspension system with the Lite known as ‘floating seat suspension’. This comprises of a suspension spring fitted to each corner of the seat pad which cushions the driver from jolts and vibrations.
  • Nimble: The 3-wheel design of the eFOLDi Lite allows for tight turning and nimble steering in even the tightest spaces. This makes the Lite especially popular for use in shops and workplaces.
